Apartments are 189 listings and houses 149. Three-bedroom homes are 113, two-bedroom 93, one-bedroom 58, four-bedroom 55, five-plus 17 and studios 2. The wide price range reflects the difference between small older flats in blocks and detached or terraced houses in the greener suburbs. Compare Finnish apartments and houses.
Tikkurila is the central district, with a rail station and shopping. Myyrmäki and Aviapolis are other suburban centres, and Kivistö is a newer development area on the Kehärata ring rail line linking to the airport. Helsinki-Vantaa Airport lies inside the city, making it a base for frequent flyers and airline staff. Helsinki is reachable by train in roughly 15 to 25 minutes depending on the station. Check noise maps near the airport and rail lines.
Most apartments are shares in a housing company, and monthly charges (maintenance and loan repayments for company debt) matter as much as the price. Transfer tax is around 1.5% on housing company shares and 3% on real property; confirm current rates. EU citizens buy freely and non-EU buyers are generally allowed outside Åland, but check with a lawyer. Mortgages for non-residents are possible with larger deposits. See our Finland consultation guide, financing page and Finland page.
