Suez is a canal city, home to shipping services, oil and industrial zones and the Ain Sokhna area on the Gulf of Suez, which has become a popular coastal-resort destination about 45 minutes away. Cairo can be reached in roughly an hour and a half. Buyers in Suez are mostly local residents, workers and families; holiday buyers tend to prefer Ain Sokhna or the Red Sea. Compare with Cairo, Alexandria and Giza.
Egyptian prices move with the pound, which has weakened sharply in recent years, so compare listings against the exchange rate on the day. Foreigners can generally buy a limited number of residential properties after getting approvals, and registered ownership requires a clean title from the real estate registry (shahr 'aqari), not just a contract. Use a local lawyer. See the Egypt page, consultation and financing guide.
