Apartments in Taiwan
Apartments for sale in Taiwan make up 74 of the 79 properties on RealEstateAbroad, so the apartment market is effectively the Taiwanese listing market. The median asking price across all our Taiwan listings is NT$31,880,000, with a median size of 120 m². This page explains the typical layouts, the quirks of Taiwanese area measurement and the checks that matter for overseas buyers.
All figures come from current listings on RealEstateAbroad and are asking prices in New Taiwan dollars. Across our 79 Taiwan listings the median asking price is NT$31,880,000 and the median is NT$275,699 per m². Because apartments are 94% of the total, those figures are a fair guide to what is advertised, though a sample this small cannot stand in for the whole country.
Three-bedroom homes are the biggest group (30 of 79), followed by two-bedroom (15) and one-bedroom (13) units, with 8 listings showing no bedrooms, typically studios. See the Taiwan overview for the wider picture.
Area is often quoted in ping, where one ping is about 3.3 m². The stated area may include a share of lobbies, stairwells and rooftop facilities, so the interior can be materially smaller than the headline number. Ask for the registered area split between indoor space, balcony and common areas, and for the floor plan.
Many apartments in newer blocks include a parking space, which is registered and priced separately. Older buildings of five storeys or fewer may have no lift. Management committees collect a monthly fee for cleaning, security and lifts, and large buildings with amenities charge more.
Buyers include local families, returning Taiwanese from abroad, professionals living in Taiwan on work permits and overseas investors with eligible nationality. Financing for foreigners is limited, so most purchase with cash or home-country equity; see the Taiwan mortgage guide. Yes, if their country grants Taiwanese citizens equivalent rights and the property is not in a restricted category. The land administration agent or lawyer should confirm eligibility with the Land Office.

It is the share of the stated size taken up by shared spaces such as lobbies and stairs. It can be large, so ask for the indoor area and compare per-m² prices on that basis.
It depends on the structure and maintenance. Taiwan has strengthened building codes after past earthquakes, so ask for the construction date and have an engineer inspect older blocks.
Possibly, but banks prefer resident borrowers and central-bank controls limit loan-to-value on larger purchases. Many foreign buyers pay cash.
