Remich is a small town along the Moselle with a riverside esplanade, wine cellars producing crémant and white wines, and boat trips in summer. The Moselle forms the border with Germany, and the village of Schengen lies a short way downstream. Residents enjoy slower rhythms than in the capital, with quick road access to Luxembourg City and to the German side of the river.
Neighbouring communes are in the same canton: Mondorf-les-Bains is a spa town, and Dalheim, Filsdorf, Oetrange, Moutfort and Contern are villages and small towns closer to the capital.
There is no general restriction on foreign buyers. Registration duties are about 7% plus a transcription fee, in addition to notary fees, and a tax credit may be available for a main residence. A notary handles the deed.
For apartments, ask about service charges and the building's energy class, which affects running costs. For houses on slopes near vineyards, check drainage and any wine-region planning limits. See our Luxembourg guide, financing and consultation.
